The word Doyenne is defined as: a woman who is the most prominent and respected in her field.
As women we do a million different things a day, from childcare, to most of a household's labor, to being the primary breadwinner in nearly half of households in industrialized nations. Being a woman means being a Doyenne.
So when we were sourcing our manufacturer it was important for us to choose a small, female owned, manufacturing company who provides adequate wages, healthy working hours, a safe hygienic workplace, holidays and leave, and prioritizes the protection of the environment. Many of the women who we work with at our manufacturing facility are mothers as well.
Advocating for global women’s rights is one of the most radical acts of politics.
Our silk is certified organic and comes from the most ethical and sustainable cultivation processes which follow traditional ancient traditions established centuries ago.
We believe in the eco consciousness of slow fashion. We are small batch, releasing limited quantities and only a few designs at a time. This way we can stay true to our integrity and maintain our commitment to quality, refinement and attention to detail.
The Doyenne line is made up of one hundred percent organic silk garments. One of the many reasons we love silk is its biodegradability. Working with natural fibers reduces water pollution, CO2 emissions and other environmental impacts. Silk even gives back with byproducts from processing that are used in beauty products, food for livestock and nutrition for the soil.
Our intention is to live and work in beauty.
